About Buoyfriend
The platform behind simplified mooring access.

Mooring availability and access today
In marinas, information about available berths for short-term visitors is generally relatively easy to obtain, and in most cases it is also possible to make a reservation. Individual marinas typically use their own solutions, most often via phone calls or online forms.
In bays with mooring buoys, the situation is significantly different.
When planning a voyage and a stop in a bay, the availability of a mooring buoy is usually not known in advance. The status is determined only upon arrival in the bay and often depends on arrival time, seasonal conditions, and weather. As a result, it is difficult to predict in advance where and how the day will end.
This way of access has long been considered self-evident, but for boaters it means uncertainty, increased effort, and additional risks.
Some operators offer telephone reservations, but in practice these have often proven to be inefficient and unreliable for both guests and operators.
Why Buoyfriend
Buoyfriend brings structure, clarity, and real-time visibility to bays and buoy fields, in one place, on one map.
The platform introduces a simple digital access layer of a kind that has not existed in this area until now.
The purpose is not to replace existing systems, but to make the availability of mooring buoys visible, more predictable, and easier to understand for everyone involved, while at the same time enabling a modern and automated way of managing reservations, guest check-ins, and payments.
How it started
Buoyfriend was created as a response to a part of maritime infrastructure that has not yet been meaningfully digitised.
In April 2024, Buoyfriend launched the world’s first platform dedicated exclusively to the digitisation of buoy fields, bringing real-time visibility, automation, and structure to these environments.
From the very beginning, Buoyfriend was designed for buoy fields, while also being built to support other types of mooring capacities.
What the platform is
Buoyfriend is a digital mooring platform that:
provides a clean and independent map of moorings
enables digital reservations in advance as well as on-site check-in
supports both reservation-based and FCFS models
operates without apps, phone calls, or intermediaries
One platform. One flow. It simply works.
Who it is for
For boaters
Buoyfriend enables fast and reliable access to mooring information and easier, safer route planning. A key phase of navigation - selecting and securing a mooring, becomes a clear and predictable process: review the desired destination, check mooring availability, reserve, and enjoy the stop.
For mooring operators and owners
Buoyfriend equips mooring capacities with a digital layer that enables visibility on a global map, automated management, and more efficient clearly structured operations. Digitisation opens additional possibilities that are not achievable in a traditional, non-digital environment.
For local providers and businesses
Buoyfriend establishes a structured ecosystem that meaningfully connects boaters with services related to nautical tourism and supports local economies.
Independent by design
Buoyfriend is designed as a neutral and independent platform, open to all mooring owners and operators who wish to digitise their operations.
The focus is on usability, trust, and long-term sustainability.
